The redevelopment of St Berts reimagines a small, modern church in Halton, near Runcorn, as a more open, welcoming and flexible community space.
The proposals focus on improving accessibility, creating a clearer and more inviting entrance, and introducing adaptable spaces that support a wider range of activities. A new kitchen and café will form the heart of the building, alongside training and counselling rooms designed to serve the needs of the local community.
Shaped through close collaboration with local organisations and stakeholders, the project reflects a shared ambition to deliver meaningful improvements within a carefully managed budget. The design embraces the language of modern church architecture — calm, simple and light-filled — transforming previously inward-looking spaces into open environments connected to the surrounding tree canopy. Framed views, natural light and flexible layouts create a peaceful setting that supports both community activity and quiet reflection.
