The project for Fawcett Villas involves the modernisation of an apartment within a listed London mansion block. The works involved window repair and upgrades, thermal enhancements to enable the client to use more sustainable forms of energy for heating and improvements to the acoustic resilience to mitigate the passage of sound, as the project was for a musician.
The design involved a full refurbishment to include the interior design and fit out of joinery works. Gagarin managed the contract under a strict time allocation for construction, as required for the local authority.
One of the design drivers for the project was a response to how the sun tracked around the apartment at different times of the day, enabling us to create a series of distinct spaces for working, sleeping and socialising — each with it’s own character and mood, reflected in the design detail, materiality and atmosphere. A lovely micro-project, client and collaborators.
