We’re big supporters of wind energy—but we’re also aware how contentious turbines can be in sensitive landscapes. Closer to home, proposals for Walshaw Moor above Calderdale have raised real concerns, particularly around protected peatland.
As designers, we wanted to engage with the issue. We explored how turbine bases might be rethought—using a lighter tripod structure to reduce material, carbon, and ground impact in fragile environments.
Hers a snippet of our early thinking (shared via the Enel Wind Turbine Ideas Forum), but worth exploring. Wind energy matters—so do location, landscape, and design.
