We were really pleased to be featured in the April 2019 edition of the RIBA Journal as part of its Future Winners series. The piece spotlighted regional practices doing interesting, often unconventional work beyond the usual metropolitan centres.
It was great to be included alongside studios we genuinely admire, all part of a wider conversation about architecture in less expected places, and the different ways it can be made to happen.
Over five years on, we still think back to our chat with Hugh—an architecture critic and writer whose work we’ve followed for years. We talked about setting up practice, figuring things out as we went, and what it means to work regionally without a clear roadmap.
A lot has shifted in the architectural landscape since then, but the core ideas—adaptability, resilience, and making meaningful work wherever you are—still feel spot on.
